Raleigh, North Carolina is just a section of the region known to locals as the ‘Triangle’. The Triangle Area encompasses the cities of Durham, Raleigh, and Chapel Hill as well as the surrounding suburbs. At the center of this area is the Research Triangle Park, a leading area of development and research for top companies such as GlaxoSmithKline, IBM, Du Pont, and Cisco Systems.
The Triangle Area not only enjoys many opportunities for employment, but is also an area known for award winning school districts. This distinction in education continues at the university level. The area is home to many competitive colleges and universities. The most well known of these institutions is North Carolina State University, Duke University, and the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill. Individuals not only visit or relocate to the area for work or education, but for its location. The Triangle Area is located at almost equal distances from both the beach and mountains. Day trips to cities like Wilmington, Boone, New Bern, and Asheville are within easy reach for residents of the Triangle Area. All of these advantages combined with a moderate price of living attracts new residents to the Triangle year after year.
